This handwoven coaster is crafted in Japan from high-quality rush grass (igusa, い草) or washi-omote (和紙表), a durable tatami surface made from traditional Japanese paper.

Tatami (畳) is a classic element of Japanese living spaces, and each coaster reflects that heritage. Woven by skilled artisans, these coasters highlight the natural texture and subtle beauty of the material.

We offer two types:

Rush Grass – Natural, eco-friendly, and aromatic with the calming scent of fresh igusa.

Washi-Omote – Made from washi paper, it’s highly durable, easy to maintain, and modern in finish.

With earthy tones and a timeless design, this coaster adds warmth to your dining table or workspace - perfectly suited for a matcha bowl.

As each piece is handmade, slight variations in shape or texture may occur. A mild grassy scent from rush grass is natural and will fade over time.

Care instruction

Avoid direct exposure to excessive moisture. If the coaster becomes wet, gently wipe it with a soft cloth and allow it to air dry completely, keeping it out of direct sunlight.
To clean, use a soft, dry cloth or a soft brush to remove dust and dirt. For stubborn stains, gently wipe the affected area with a wet cloth (no soap). Do not soak the coaster in water.
Do not use any harsh cleaning products, bleach, or abrasives, as they may damage the natural fibers.
When not in use, store the coaster in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading or warping.
Although durable, the coaster is crafted from natural materials, so handle with care to avoid bending or damaging the intricate weave.
