This handmade plate is crafted in Japan using modern Mashiko ware (益子焼) techniques.

Made with locally sourced clay from Mashiko, each piece reflects the region’s long-standing pottery tradition blended with contemporary functionality.

The plate is shaped using a mold to unify its form, allowing it to stack neatly on shelves while maintaining the warmth and character of handmade ceramics. Its small size makes it perfect for bread or serving, offering a versatile and effortless addition to everyday dining.

Its simple and elegant silhouette has a quiet presence that enhances the beauty of food. While minimalist in form, the glaze draws the eye with its depth and natural variation. The glaze is created by artisans blending ash produced from a wood-burning stove used in their daily lives, resulting in truly one-of-a-kind colours. The yellow glaze, in particular, varies significantly from piece to piece.

Fine crackle patterns may appear on the surface—this is a natural characteristic of the glaze and not a defect. As each plate is handmade, slight variations in shape, colour, and glaze are part of its unique charm and artisanal quality.

Care instruction

Before use, it is recommended to soak ceramics in clean water for a few hours (ideally overnight) to help prevent stains.
For oily or dark-colored foods, please wash the ceramics as soon as possible, as prolonged contact may cause staining.
Handwashing is recommended, but they are dishwasher safe. However, if ceramics hit each other in the dishwasher, it may cause chipping.
After washing, be sure to dry the ceramics thoroughly before placing them back on the shelf. Storing them while still damp may lead to mold, stains, or smell.
Microwave safe, but avoid prolonged use.
Crackle in the glaze may appear, but this is a natural characteristic of ceramics and will not affect its use.
Large grains of clay have been used in ceramics, so please avoid dragging them on the table, as this may scratch the surface.
